“The litmus test for the success of any music ministry is not the sound that goes out from the cantor or choir, but the sound that comes back from the congregation.”
– The Paulist Liturgy Planning Guide.
The Music Ministry at St. Joseph Church/Bread of Life Community is one filled with diversity and opportunity. There are three Masses at the parish and each Mass has its own musical personality and needs.
The 5:15pm on Saturday nights is led by cantor and organ and shares a more traditional musical style with the 8:30am Mass. The 8:30 Mass utilizes a choir and cantor, also accompanied by pipe organ.
The 11am Mass is our charismatic mass, which uses a worship leader as well as our praise and worship band to lead musical worship. The music for this Mass is selected from the Contemporary Christian genre and includes music by Chris Tomlin and many others.
Each group is in search of new members, both as singers and instrumentalist. Please contact Hannah in the church office, (814) 452-2982, if you are interested in this ministry, or e-mail her at Hannah@Stjoesbol.org .
For Brides and Grooms looking to book musicians for their wedding, please use the link or phone number above to contact Hannah Tatar, the Director of Music and she will be able to assist you.
In 2006, the Praise and Worship band, Bread of Life, recorded a musical version of the Chaplet of Divine Mercy as a fundraising effort to support the restoration of the church windows. Several hundred have been sold, and many more are still available. More information on this beautiful CD is available by contacting Jim Dzuricky HERE.
